best way to perform internal cable routing

Your Klein frame, frameset or fuselage should have come with internal cable guide sleeves pre-installed. This makes routing cables through the frame much easier. Once cables have been routed, we recommend removing the sleeves, especially the rear brake sleeve (leaving this in will lead to excess cable length inside the frame which will likely cause rattling and can Klein Internal Cable Routinglead to spongy brake performance). This refers to road models and pre 2002 ATB models. 2002 and newer ATB models have an externally routed brake cable. Once cables have been routed, you will need to seat the exit cable stop.

First apply a drop of lubricant to the tip of the cable stop, and then with a hammer, lightly tap a punch, broad blade screwdriver or similar tool (a 3mm T-handle allen wrench also works) against the housing stop until it sits flush with the frame dimple. Do not over-drive the cable housing stop or it may crush in the frame. Save the guide sleeve for future service use.  If replacement guide sleeves (part# 62089) or exit cable stops (part# 994428) are needed, they can be ordered through any authorized Klein dealer.

If cables need service or replacement, reinstall guide sleeves prior to removing the cables.  If a cable has been removed prior to this, reinstalling a guide sleeve can be difficult. To most, threading a guide sleeve through a frame can be an arduous task and will likely take several attempts. Removing the exit cable stop can increase ease of routing. We strongly recommend an authorized Klein dealer perform this service. Further cable routing information can be found within the online Technical Manual.
